Coffee on the 21st Floor

MobSquad café is hidden inside the Edison building, located in the heart of downtown Calgary.

This lofty space reminds visitors-and locals-to pause and be immersed in what the big city has to offer.

This café is not only tucked away in the massive building, but actually on the 21st floor, as you can imagine, the bustling city view below is incredible.

If you’re afraid of heights, how far are you willing to go for a cup of coffee?

Honestly, stepping into the spacious building with fast-moving elevators and plenty of formal attire, I was unsure if the café was open to the public. But it most certainly is.

The atmosphere was distinctly corporate, providing the ideal quiet space to focus.

Chic describes it well, with plenty of sleek seating, open space and concrete structures. The generous windows emphasize the skyline and provide a naturally well-lit element up top.

The current season creates an idyllic feeling, where in the far distance between sky-reaching buildings a range of warm fall tones take over.

Even throughout the city streets. Leaves and yellow decorate each sidewalk and street, framing the reflective infrastructure.

Let’s just say: I could imagine a swift Lily van der Woodsen, grabbing an efficient coffee here, cloaked in some designer trench, before getting back to work.

My cappuccino did its job, and I was quite productive during my visit. It really felt like I was being absorbed into another world.

Mostly everyone is enveloped in their work, Wi-Fi and outlets are readily available along the tables.

The café’s atmosphere is definitely less daunting than the Edison building (to non-corporate folk). But you do have to make the trek through to get there.

At the end of my visit, a few suited gentlemen were engaging in a ping pong game. Yes, there’s a ping pong table.

Overall, this cafe is an experience, it is productive, chic, and definitely a lesser-known gem. Check it out for a remarkable view, to get some work done and for a playful take on what corporate culture looks like.

To the 21st floor?
